  • Schedule pre-trial conferences, hearings, and other court proceedings; prepare files.
  • Review cases for completeness and ensure proper disposition prior to storage.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities


  • Enters citations, complaints, payments, pleas, dispositions, and other case activity into the court's case management system.

  • Creates, maintains, and files electronic and paper case files and ensures records are complete and accurate.

  • Administers oaths and prepares court documents, including juvenile documents, judgments, orders, motions, and other documents as directed.

  • Assists the public in person, by telephone, mail, and electronically by providing general information about court procedures, deadlines, payments, and available options.

  • Processes requests for driver safety courses, deferred disposition, payment arrangements, community service, and other court-approved options.

  • Processes payments and verifies that payments are accurately posted to the appropriate case.

  • Schedules pre-trial conferences, hearings, and other court proceedings and prepares the necessary case files and documents.

  • Processes case activity resulting from court hearings and appearances, including dismissals, convictions, payment arrangements, and other orders.

  • Coordinates community service requirements and prepares related documentation.

  • Reviews cases for completeness and verifies final dispositions before cases are closed and placed in storage.

  • Maintains accurate and confidential court records and follows applicable records retention and confidentiality requirements.

  • Stays current on changes to court policies, procedures, laws, and technology.

  • Provides professional and courteous customer service, including dealing appropriately with individuals who may be upset or frustrated.

  • Uses Microsoft Office, court software, electronic records systems, and other technology necessary to perform the job.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Court Administrator or Judge.

  • Dependability, punctuality, and regular attendance are essential.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.


Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required. Three (3) years of customer service, administrative, clerical, or related experience preferred. Previous municipal court or legal office experience is a plus but not required.


Physical and Mental Demands

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk; talk and hear; use hands and fingers to handle or operate office equipment and computer systems; reach with hands and arms; and perform repetitive movements of hands and wrists. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.


Mental Demands: The employee must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; read and interpret policies, procedures, forms, and other documents; organize and analyze information; perform detailed work accurately; maintain confidentiality; manage multiple concurrent tasks; learn new systems and procedures; exercise sound judgment; solve routine problems; and interact professionally with employees, applicants, and members of the public.


The position works primarily in an office and public-facing environment. The employee will regularly interact with the public and may encounter individuals who are upset or frustrated. The position requires professionalism, confidentiality, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.


Conditions of Employment

The City of Corsicana has established the goal of a 100% drug and alcohol-free workplace. Applicants will be required to undergo drug and alcohol testing prior to employment and will be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout their period of employment. Must have and maintain a valid Texas Motor Vehicle Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record. Punctuality and regular attendance are required. Must satisfactorily complete the City's probationary period.
