Job summary

Colorado Department of Corrections seeks a Physician II to provide routine and emergency medical care for inmates at the Denver Correctional Complex. The role includes on-site examinations, ordering tests, diagnosing conditions, prescribing treatments, and educating patients on preventive care.

Board eligibility or certification in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, PM&R, or Preventive Medicine is required, with medical licensure in Colorado.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice medicine in Colorado as an MD or DO.
• Board eligible (completed residency) or board certified in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, or Preventive Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine and emergency medical care to inmates.
• Perform examinations, order/interpret tests, diagnose conditions, and prescribe treatment.
• Educate patients on preventive health care and ensure on-site minor procedures.
• Supervise Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants and coordinate with other units.
