Job summary

The Salvation Army Corning Corps in Corning, NY seeks a part-time Ministry Assistant (15 hrs/wk) to support Corps Officers. You will help plan and coordinate kids and teen programs, VBS, outreach, and Sunday School, and assist with seasonal activities such as Kettles and Back to School, while promoting growth for the corps and the Kingdom of God.

Responsibilities include assisting with program development, leading activities, managing transportation, ensuring Kid’s Café coverage when needed,

Responsibilities

• Attend Sunday services and lead Sunday School in rotation.
• Assist with program development and implementation (social and evangelistic ministry, seasonal events).
• Support Kettles, Angel Tree, Back to School and youth ministry programs.
• Help promote, register and run events/activities and provide leadership at events.
• Arrange transportation for programs and divisional events.
• Complete Kid’s Café training to cover staff call-offs when needed.
• Collect program statistics and maintain records.
• Provide general corps support and handle special projects as assigned.

Overview

The Corning Corps of The Salvation Army is seeking a Part-time (15 Hr/Wk) Ministry assistant.

Our part-time positions offer generous time off every year including 14 paid holidays, vacation time and sick time

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Assist the Corps Officers in multiple aspects of ministry at the Corning Corps. The CMA assists in planning and coordinating kids and teen program, VBS, outreach ministry, Sunday School and they will assist with seasonal events such as Kettles and Back to School. They will be expected to share a vision for growing the corps and the Kingdom of God.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To be fully involved in Sunday activities including attending services, leading Sunday School classes and junior church in rotation with Corps Officers
• Assist the Corps Officer with the development, planning and implementation of various programs, including but not limited to:
  • Social and evangelistic ministry programs;
  • Seasonal efforts such as Kettles, Angel Tree, Back to School, etc.
  • Corps summer youth ministries, including the recruitment for camps and Bible school programs;
• Assist the Corps Officer in providing leadership at events including assisting the Corps Officers in the promotion, registration and implementation of events/activities.
• Assist with transportation for programs, divisional events, Camp Long Point, and seasonal needs (kettles, Angel Tree, etc.)
• Complete training and licensing requirements for Kid’s Café program to be able to step in as coverage as needed for call offs of Kid’s Café staff
• Gather and regularly submit program statistics and maintain program records
• Assist as needed for general, daily Corps support needs and perform special projects as assigned by the Corps Officers.
