Job summary

General Atomics is seeking a part-time attorney to join our Law Department in the La Jolla/Torrey Pines corridor. The role offers approximately 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling.

You will support corporate, contractual and dispute matters, reviewing, drafting and managing agreements, and collaborating with attorneys and business teams to support operations. The ideal candidate has a law degree, an active CA license, and at least two years of corporate/transactional experience.

Qualifications

• Two years of progressively responsible legal experience with corporate, commercial, or transactional matters.
• Experience reviewing and drafting commercial agreements.
• Active license to practice law in California.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine legal advice regarding the company’s rights, obligations and business activities.
• Review, draft and assist with a variety of agreements including commercial, sales, NDAs, MOUs, licenses, service and vendor agreements.
• Assist with corporate governance matters and related documentation.
• Identify legal, contractual and business risks and recommend practical approaches.
• Review agreements and supporting docs to identify problematic provisions and ensure approvals are satisfied.
• Coordinate contract review, revisions, approvals and execution with attorneys and business partners.
• Assist with matters involving IP, real estate, employment, insurance and other areas as appropriate.
• Conduct legal research and stay informed on relevant laws and developments.
• Assist with litigation, pre-litigation, transactional and corporate matters as directed by senior counsel.
• Coordinate with outside counsel, government reps and other external parties as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and follow Law Department practices and company policies.
