Role Description

The Part‑Time Coordinator, English Language Learning will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of English language classes and related literacy programs at Lincoln Literacy’s on‑site location in Lincoln, NE. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include scheduling classes, communicating with instructors and learners, maintaining accurate attendance and program records, and helping ensure classrooms and materials are prepared. The coordinator will assist with learner intake and placement, provide guidance to volunteers and instructors, and help address learner questions or concerns in a timely, respectful manner. The role also involves collaborating with staff to improve program quality, supporting outreach to community partners, and contributing to the development of culturally responsive learning activities. This is a part‑time, on‑site role that requires regular in‑person presence and occasional evening or weekend hours based on program needs.

Qualifications
  • English language instruction and coordination skills, including familiarity with English Language Learning (ELL) or English as a Second Language (ESL) classroom environments.
  • Program coordination and administrative skills, such as scheduling, recordkeeping, and organizing class materials and resources.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work respectfully with learners, volunteers, and staff from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Basic technology and digital literacy skills, including comfort with email, spreadsheets, and databases used for tracking attendance and program information.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and solve problems in a fast‑paced, community‑focused setting.
  • Experience in education, nonprofit work, or community services is beneficial; prior experience supporting adult learners or immigrants and refugees is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post‑secondary coursework or a degree in education, TESOL, social sciences, or a related field is preferred.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and learner‑centered practices, and willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
