Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service and promote a restaurant-style dining atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Services Director and/or Executive Director to ensure resident satisfaction with food and dining programs.
  • Assist in supervising culinary staff alongside the Culinary Director.
  • Support the preparation and execution of dining enhancement programs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in kitchen and food storage areas.
  • Responsible for opening and/or closing the kitchen.
  • Follow cleaning schedules and standards.
  • Ensure proper receipt, storage, and preparation of food according to standards.
  • Estimate and communicate food and supply needs.
  • Participate in preparing and cooking meals per recipes and menus.
  • Monitor and document food temperatures and storage conditions.
  • Ensure snacks and beverages are available for residents.
  • Keep the kitchen clean and organized.
  • Assist in food transportation and storage.
  • Help organize and execute special events and theme meals.

Job Qualifications:

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and residents.
    • Strong customer service focus, multitasking ability, and receptiveness to feedback.
    • Knowledge of food handling, preparation, and safety procedures.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred; 1-3 years of cooking experience in healthcare or hospitality; Serve Safe Certification.
  • Experience: Experience in healthcare or hospitality preferred.
  • Certificates/Licenses: Serve Safe Certification required.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Dexterity, visual and auditory acuity.
    • Ability to lift at least 15 lbs., push/pull carts, and stand/walk for extended periods.
    • Ability to crouch, kneel, reach, and bend as necessary.
