Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality customer service and promote a restaurant-style dining atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Services Director and/or Executive Director to ensure resident satisfaction with food and dining programs.
  • Assist Culinary Director in supervising culinary staff.
  • Help with the preparation and execution of dining enhancement programs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in kitchen and food storage/preparation areas.
  • Responsible for opening and/or closing the kitchen.
  • Follow cleaning schedules as assigned.
  • Ensure all food is received, stored, and prepared according to standards.
  • Estimate food and supply needs and communicate with the food service team.
  • Assist in preparing and cooking meals per recipes and menus.
  • Document food temperatures before service and monitor refrigeration/freezer temperatures.
  • Ensure snacks and beverages are available for residents at all times.
  • Keep kitchen floors clean and trash emptied.
  • Assist with food transportation and storage.
  • Support preparation and execution of special events and meals.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Ability to build positive relationships with staff and residents.
    • Focus on excellent customer service and multitasking skills.
    • Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely.
    • Knowledge of food handling, preparation, and service.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred; 1-3 years of cooking experience in hospitality or healthcare preferred.
  • Certificates/Licenses: Serve Safe Certification required.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Dexterity, visual and auditory acuity.
    • Ability to lift at least 15 lbs., push/pull carts, and stand/walk for extended periods.
    • Ability to crouch, kneel, reach, and bend as needed.
