Job summary

The Phoenix at Opelika is seeking a part-time Cook to join their team. The Cook reports directly to the Food and Beverage Director. The position focuses on food preparation to meet quality, quantity and service standards for residents.

Responsibilities include preparing meals, maintaining sanitary conditions, following approved recipes, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Experience with dietary needs and temperature controls is valued.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma/ GED required
• Culinary apprenticeship or training preferred
• One (1) year job related experience including food preparation, full-line menu items and therapeutic diets
• Maintains a SERV Safe certificate or able to participate in the food services sanitation training to become SERV Safe Certified

Responsibilities

• Preparation and Food Service: prepare and serve meals, maintain sanitation of food service areas, keep accurate records and manage inventory
• Adheres to posted menus and prepares items using Phoenix recipes
• Adheres to production sheets and instructions
• Prepares all special dietary needs as directed
• Prepares texture modified food as directed
• Organizes work to meet production and service requirements
• Monitors all food items to ensure temperature, taste and quality meet guidelines
• Maintains sanitary conditions and cleans work areas
• Operates dish machines and related cleaning procedures
• Follow all local, state and federal policies regarding food handling
• Maintains cleanliness, hygiene and health standards
• Rotates menus and production sheets
• Record keeping for service standards and regulatory compliance
• Manually records equipment temperatures
• Manually records refrigerator temperatures
• Manually records freezer temperatures
• Manually records cooking temperatures of the food
• Manually records holding temperatures of the food
• Manually records cooling temperatures of the food
• Monitors food production quantities
• Manually records taste evaluation sheets
