Job summary

Western Slope Health Center in Placerville, CA, is seeking a dependable Part-Time Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents in a skilled nursing setting. You will maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen and assist with supervising duties in the Dietary team.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and experience in healthcare food service is preferred. ServSafe certification is required; PCC knowledge is a plus. This position offers a starting hourly wage of $19.00.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of experience as a cook in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, long-term care facility, or similar healthcare setting preferred.
• Experience preparing meals in large quantities preferred.
• Experience preparing special diets is highly desirable.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and written procedures.
• Ability to follow menus and portion-control guidelines accurately.
• Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and sanitation.
• Ability to work independently and take appropriate direction.
• Ability to manage kitchen responsibilities in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the kitchen and cooking areas in a safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary manner.
• Prepare tasteful, nutritious meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Follow established menus, recipes, and portion-control guidelines.
• Record and monitor food temperatures according to facility procedures.
• Prepare pureed foods as required.
• Assist with serving meals to residents.
• Maintain quaternary sanitizer solution in designated buckets.
• Clean cooking areas, kitchen equipment, and serving carts.
• Follow all cleaning and sanitation schedules.
• Report resident care concerns and potential issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing.
• Assist with orientation and training of dietary staff.
