Job summary

Brightway Living & Learning, a Long Island-based nonprofit, seeks a part-time Cook/Housekeeper to support adults with disabilities in daily living. Responsibilities include meal preparation aligned with nutritionist menus and thorough cleaning of residential spaces to ensure safety and comfort.

Candidates should be able to follow safety guidelines, lift up to 25 lbs, and work well with staff and residents. Comprehensive benefits and ongoing training are offered.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, understand, and follow safety guidelines.
• Ability to follow safety guidelines using household cleaning products.
• Ability to work well with staff and individuals supported.
• Ability to cook following menus and meal preparation guidelines.
• Ability to use cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and shampoo machines.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare meals in coordination with menus prepared by Nutritionist.
• Perform heavy cleaning of the house and windows daily or weekly as needed.
• Report maintenance needs or hazards to the Manager or Maintenance staff.
• Notify supervisor if house or appliances need repairs.
• Help schedule and plan parties for special occasions.
• Answer calls courteously and take messages.
