Job summary

Good Samaritan Society in Canistota, SD is seeking a part-time cook to prepare and serve meals for residents, staff, and visitors. You will follow menus, ensure food safety, and maintain high sanitation standards in a dynamic kitchen environment.

The role requires the ability to read recipes, perform basic math, and work with HACCP guidelines. On-site duties include equipment operation and adherence to daily production sheets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions.
• Basic math skills are required.
• On-the-job training will be provided.
• Serv Safe may be required depending on location.
• BLS may be required depending on location.
• Driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, assemble baked goods, cook and portion food for patients/residents, staff and visitors according to menus and dietary requirements.
• Adhere to HACCP guidelines and food quality/sanitation standards; document temperatures and outcomes.
• Label and store food, maintain storage and cleanliness of cooking and serving areas.
• Communicate effectively with internal customers and demonstrate teamwork.
• Operate kitchen equipment and follow production sheets for daily/weekly menus.
