Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field along with 5 years of industry experience.
• CMG 130 requires a degree in construction with 5 years experience, or an associate degree with 7 years experience and OSHA Trainer Institute certification.
• For CMG 150/170/225: must possess a current, valid Builders License.
• Willingness to teach face-to-face, virtual, or online according to departmental needs.
• Ability to use AI-enabled tools in teaching while maintaining confidentiality and ethics.

WCC is establishing a pool of qualified candidates to be considered when part‑time and/or on‑call instructors are needed to teach CMG credit courses. We are actively hiring instructors for the upcoming fall semester, with opportunities available immediately and as needs arise throughout the academic year. Needs may become available prior to or during each semester. Upon successful submission of your application, resume, and transcripts, you will be considered for teaching opportunities on a per‑course basis for the following Construction Management (CMG) course prefixes:

• CMG 130: Construction Site Safety and OSHA Regulations


• CMG 150: Introduction to Construction Management


• CMG 180: Application of Construction Materials

Essential Duties include:

• Establish and maintain environment conducive to student learning.


• Prepare for and instruct assigned course(s) through the use of appropriate learning experiences and materials which provide the opportunity to meet overall course objectives and program goals.


• Adhere to course syllabus and comply with Assessment of Student Academic Achievement.


• Evaluate student progress through day‑to‑day evaluation, written examinations and overall observation.


• Grade assignments in a meaningful way to promote continued student growth, returning graded assignments to students in a timely manner, and assigning final grades for all students, meeting or beating all institutional deadlines for completion.


• Actively support student success through guidance, advising and assisting individual students as needed.


• Participate in professional activities including, but not limited to, curriculum planning, examination development, textbook selection, program evaluation/revision and other professional planning activities.


• Participate in the Student Opinion Questionnaire (SOQ) process.


• Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.


• Utilize technology, including AI‑enabled tools and software where appropriate, to support teaching, learning, student engagement, professional responsibilities, institutional service, and other responsibilities. Use such technologies in a manner consistent with academic standards, professional ethics, confidentiality requirements, and compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Earned bachelor’s degree or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field along with 5 years of industry experience.


• CMG 130 only – Earned bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in a Construction related degree with a minimum of 5 years of work experience; OR an associate degree or higher in a Construction related degree with a minimum of 7 years of work experience and OTI [OSHA Trainer Institute] Certification.


• For CMG 150, CMG 170 and CMG 225: Must possess a current, valid Builders License.


• Willingness to teach face‑to‑face, virtual, or online according to departmental needs. Most courses are face‑to‑face.


• Demonstrated ability to use technology relevant to the discipline and faculty role, including the capacity to learn and appropriately utilize emerging AI‑supported tools. Ability to evaluate the accuracy, reliability, and appropriateness of AI‑generated content; maintain confidentiality where required; exercise professional and academic judgment; and uphold ethical standards in the use of technology for teaching, learning, and service.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant Industry Certifications, such as OSHA certification, LEED , Certified Professional Constructor (CPC) or certifications from construction‑related professional organizations.


• Prior experience in teaching and/or training.


• Available to teach either day and evening courses.


• Available to teach Saturday courses.
