Job summary

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is seeking a Part-time Construction Specialist for YouthBuild IGNITE in Brooklyn. You will deliver hands-on construction training, supervise labs, and oversee the external internship with daily oversight of participants and safety adherence.

You will coordinate lab spaces, PPE, and materials while supporting participants in developing hard construction skills, workplace behavior, and teamwork. Flexible evenings and weekends required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of NYC construction standards and safety practices.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Ability to travel across the five boroughs using public transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide part-time construction training and support to the Project Construction Manager and Construction Trainer.
• Supervise construction labs, ensure safety, and manage participants’ engagement and conduct.
• Oversee the external apartment renovation internship, including daily worksite supervision and progress checks.
• Assist with organizing labs, tools, PPE, and materials; maintain training spaces.
• Monitor participant performance and progress, giving feedback and identifying learning needs.
• Coordinate projects, site visits, guest speakers, and internship activities; maintain attendance records.
