Job summary

Peralta Community College District is seeking qualified Part-Time Faculty members to provide high-quality instruction and student support in alignment with our mission of advancing equity, student success, and academic excellence. Assignments are made on an as-needed basis and may include day, evening, weekend, online, or hybrid classes at any of the District's colleges.

Responsibilities include teaching assigned courses, developing syllabi, evaluating student work, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications require a bachelor's degree or higher with 2 years of professional experience, OR an associate degree with 6 years of professional experience.
• Demonstrated understanding and respect for diverse student backgrounds such as academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds.

Class Purpose

Part-time facultyare responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive instruction thatpromotes student learning and achievement while supporting thediverse educational goals of the District's students.

Examples of Duties

Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, thefollowing:

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved courseoutlines and student learning outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Possession of any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years ofprofessional experience, OR
• Possession of any associate degree and six years ofprofessional experience.
• Understanding of, sensitivity to and respect for the diverseacademic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnicbackgrounds of Peralta Colleges’ students, faculty, staff andcommunity.

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications as established bythe California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. The District will review education and work history to determinewhether minimum qualifications are met. Determinations are made inaccordance with Title 5 regulations and District procedures.Official transcripts and additional verification of employment willbe required upon offer of employment.
