Assignments are made on an as-needed basis and may include day, evening, weekend, online, or hybrid classes at any of the District’s colleges. The role emphasizes inclusive, student-centered instruction and timely evaluation of performance.

Qualifications

• Hold minimum qualifications as established by California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.
• Must provide transcripts and record of relevant professional work experience with application materials.
• Ability to teach in a manner that supports diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved outlines and student learning outcomes.
• Deliver engaging, inclusive instruction using evidence-based practices.
• Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, assignments and assessments.
• Evaluate student performance timely and equitably; maintain academic records.
• Submit grades and required reports by deadlines.
• Create an inclusive, respectful learning environment for diverse students.
• Maintain regular communication with students and respond to inquiries.
• Utilize LMS and other instructional technologies as appropriate.
• Comply with district policies, CBAs, accreditation standards and regulations.
• Participate in department meetings and professional development activities.

Education

Bachelor degree or higher + experience in discipline

Associate degree + six years experience in discipline

Part-time faculty are responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive instruction that promotes student learning and achievement while supporting the diverse educational goals of the District's students.

Assignments are made on an as-needed basis and may include day, evening, weekend, online, or hybrid classes at any of the District's colleges.

Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved course outlines and student learning outcomes.
• Prepare and deliver effective, student-centered instruction using evidence-based teaching practices.
• Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, assignments, and assessments.
• Evaluate student performance in a timely and equitable manner and maintain accurate academic records.
• Submit grades and other required reports by established deadlines.
• Create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
• Maintain regular communication with students and respond promptly to inquiries.
• Utilize the District's learning management system and other instructional technologies as appropriate.
• Comply with District policies, collective bargaining agreements, accreditation standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
• Participate in department meetings, professional development, and other college activities as appropriate for part-time faculty.

• Possession of any Bachelor’s Degree or higher AND two years of professional experience directly related to the discipline; OR
• Possession of any Associate Degree AND six years of professional experience directly related to the discipline; OR
• the equivalent
• Understanding of, sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of Peralta Colleges’ students, faculty, staff and community.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications as established by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. Applicants are required to demonstrate that they meet the minimum qualifications by submitting official or unofficial transcripts and providing a complete and detailed record of relevant professional work experience in their application materials.

The District will review education and work history to determine whether minimum qualifications are met. Determinations are made in accordance with Title 5 regulations and District procedures. Official transcripts and additional verification of employment will be required upon offer of employment.

If experience is required in lieu of a master’s degree:

For disciplines requiring a degree and professional experience, applicants must clearly describe how their education and work experience meet the stated minimum qualifications.

Equivalency

• If needed to meet the minimum qualifications, a copy (front and back) of your fully satisfied, lifetime California Community College credential authorizing service in the appropriate discipline.

Failure to provide all required documents will result in elimination from the selection process. Official transcripts will be required prior to appointment.
