Job summary

Shaw University in Raleigh, NC seeks a Part-Time (Adjunct) Faculty member for Computer Information Science. The Adjunct teaches traditional and/or non-traditional students on-campus and/or off-campus, with evening or weekend options.

Reporting to the Dean, the instructor provides course syllabi, uses diverse teaching methods, supports student development, and may participate in orientation sessions and academic support services. Commitment to excellence in education is essential.

Qualifications

Doctorate in Computer Science, Computer Information Science, or related field from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in teaching Computer Information Science.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
Ability to teach college-level courses and engage diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates acceptance and support of the University’s mission and goals.
Effectively teach knowledge-relevant CIS courses, with commitment to excellence in education.
Present course material to develop critical thinking and problem solving.
Plan, develop and improve curriculum offerings.
Provide syllabus on day one and teach per syllabus.
Participate in orientation sessions and guide students to academic support services.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
