Job summary

Cheltenham Township Police Department is seeking a Part-time Community Response Technician (CRT) for the Community Response Unit (CRU). The role offers administrative, operational, and technical support to CRU personnel and supports traffic safety programs and department operations.

Under the CRU Supervisor or Chief of Police, the CRT will assist with vehicle oversight, radar sign coordination, and background investigations while contributing to efficient daily operations and public safety

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities for handling multiple tasks.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications and data management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
• Prior administrative or clerical experience preferred in law enforcement or municipal settings.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee abandoned vehicles: tracking, documentation, and removal coordination.
• Confer traffic safety surveys and prepare reports on traffic and parking restrictions.
• Administer police impounded vehicles with proper documentation and procedures.
• Coordinate radar speed signs deployment and maintenance (weekly rotation).
• Assist with background investigations and administrative review for police applicants.
