Job summary

Children’s Museum Houston (CMH) seeks a Community Outreach Discovery Guide to facilitate family learning engagement at CMH partner sites and related programs, including school-based Family Learning Events, afterschool and camps.

The Community Outreach Discovery Guide will also have a passion for creating a fun, engaging, and memorable environment that excites children and families, ensuring they are inspired while learning through hands‑on activities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Support the facilitation of Community Outreach activities including school-based Family Learning Events and community events.
• Assist with the setup of activations (stations at events) and breakdown at the close of events.
• Engage participants at events by describing, modeling, and prompting engagement with CMH activities.
• Monitor and restock supplies to ensure participants have resources for an enriched learning experience.
• Assist Outreach team with planning and preparation for events as needed.
• Be aware and sensitive to the diverse cultural backgrounds of the families served.
• Share information about other CMH offerings and direct participants to appropriate CMH staff.
• Serve as a guide and mentor to new Outreach Discovery Guides and demonstrate CMH’s mission.
