The Children’s Museum Houston is seeking a Community Outreach Discovery Guide in Houston, TX for part-time work. The role focuses on delivering family learning experiences at CMH partner sites and during events, with flexibility to serve in other Houston-area locations.

You will assist with activations, engage families, and help ensure a memorable, safe learning environment that reflects CMH’s mission and values.

Qualifications

Strong communication with both adults and children.
Energetic, positive, and reliable team member.
Flexible hours including evenings and some weekends.
Willingness to travel across Greater Houston to present programs.

Responsibilities

Facilitate Community Outreach activities at CMH partner sites and events.
Set up activations and materials for events; assist with breakdown.
Engage participants by describing activities and modeling engagement.
Monitor and restock supplies to ensure resources are available.
Assist Outreach team with event planning and preparation tasks.
Be culturally aware of diverse families served.
Collect evaluations and sign-in sheets for events.
Share information about other CMH offerings to participants.
Lead and mentor new Outreach Discovery Guides and uphold CMH mission.
Enforce event rules and escalate issues when needed.
Work at CMH locations across the Greater Houston area, including evenings/weekends.
Uphold CMH values and diffuse conflicts with professionalism.
Other duties as assigned.
