Job summary

Colby College's Department of Athletics is seeking an assistant softball coach as the Papadellis Intern for a part-time, one-year appointment. The role supports the head coach in running a competitive Division III softball program, including on-site coaching, practice organization, and student-athlete mentorship.

Starting rate is $21.86 per hour, with responsibilities spanning recruiting, travel coordination, academic guidance, safety, and collaboration with other department staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience.
• Coaching or collegiate competition experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.
• Ability to travel for team activities.
• Commitment to liberal arts education values.

Responsibilities

• On-site coaching in games and practices, including organization and implementation of daily practices.
• Prepare film breakdown and analysis, and present analysis to team members.
• Plan and prepare for games.
• Recruit and retain talented athletes successfully.
• Ensure safety and well-being of student athletes.
• Collaborate effectively with other Department of Athletics’ team members.
• Assist with day-to-day operations of the softball program.
