Job summary

Codeyoung is seeking a part-time Coding Teacher to join our on-site team in Home, KS. You will plan and deliver interactive coding lessons for students aged 5 to 17, using a hands-on curriculum.

Prepare materials, explain concepts in accessible terms, guide projects, and provide feedback in a supportive classroom. You will monitor progress, maintain an inclusive environment, and collaborate with colleagues to refine lessons and stay current with best practices and tools.

Qualifications

• Ability to teach fundamental coding concepts (e.g., block-based programming) and guide students through simple projects.
• Experience working with children or teenagers in an educational, tutoring, or mentoring capacity.
• Strong classroom management and facilitation skills, with the ability to create an engaging, student-centered learning environment.
• Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics in simple, age-appropriate language.
• Comfort with common educational and coding tools (e.g., Scratch, basic Python or JavaScript, learning management systems) or willingness to learn them quickly.
• Demonstrated patience, empathy, and commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory teaching practices.
• Organizational skills for preparing lessons, tracking progress, and managing multiple students and activities.
• Preferred: Coursework or degree in Computer Science, Education, STEM field, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver interactive coding lessons aligned with Codeyoung’s hands-on curriculum for students ages 5 to 17.
• Prepare teaching materials and explain coding concepts in age-appropriate ways.
• Guide students through projects and exercises, encouraging questions and experimentation.
• Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
• Collaborate with the teaching team to refine lesson plans and participate in training sessions.
