Job summary

The Town of Sweden, Maine is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to administer and enforce the Town's Zoning Ordinance, oversee building construction, issue permits, and perform on-site inspections.

The CEO reports to the Select Board, attends monthly meetings, and submits a written monthly activity report. Certification within 12 months preferred; 3–5 years experience welcomed. Part-time position; Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Experience in Code Enforcement or building inspection preferred.
• Ability to interpret and apply codes and ordinances.

Responsibilities

• Administer and enforce zoning and building codes.
• Issue permits and certificates of occupancy.
• Perform on-site inspections to ensure compliance with municipal codes.
• Initiate action for noncompliance and report outcomes.
