Job summary

The Town of Carmel is seeking a Part-Time Code Enforcement Officer/LPI to review building permit plans, issue permits, and inspect structures for safety and compliance. The role supports planning and zoning processes and maintains detailed records of all activities in town offices.

Qualifications

• Experience in license code enforcement encouraged.
• Part-time schedule (12-20 hours/week), Mondays required; other days negotiable.
• Independence with supervision from Town Manager.

Responsibilities

• Review plans submitted with building permit applications for compliance with ordinances and regulations.
• Issue building permits to appropriate applicants; inspect buildings and structures for safety and standard compliance.
• Attend Planning Board and Board of Appeals meetings; provide information to assist decisions.
• Maintain records of applications, permits, variances, fees, and actions; investigate violations of local land use ordinances.
