Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana – Richmond is seeking an Adjunct CNC Machining & CNC Programming Instructor to deliver hands-on, non-credit training in CNC operations, setup, programming, and troubleshooting. The role focuses on practical skills development for adult learners in collaboration with local employers.

Instructors may teach on campus or at employer sites; schedule varies and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on CNC machining or CNC programming experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in at least one CNC machining or programming discipline.
• Working knowledge of CNC operation, setup, tooling, machining processes, and safety practices.
• Ability to explain technical machining concepts clearly and translate industry experience into practical instruction.
• Ability to work with adult learners with varying levels of machining experience.
• Demonstrates proper machine setup, operation, programming, inspection, and troubleshooting techniques within their area of expertise.
• High school diploma or equivalent with substantial relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate adult learning through demonstrations, setup exercises, programming activities, troubleshooting scenarios, and practical applications.
• Provide or assist with course outlines, instructional materials, lab activities, and assessments aligned with workforce training objectives.
• Demonstrate safe operation of CNC machines, tooling, and related equipment.
• Adapt instruction to participants with varying levels of experience.
• Maintain attendance, progress, assessment, and course-completion records.
• Submit required course documentation on time.
• Support participants with technical questions and skill development throughout training.
• Collaborate with Ivy Tech Workforce/Skills Training staff as needed.
