Job summary

Achates LLC in Brownsburg, IN is seeking a part-time CNC Lathe & Mill Machinist to join our AS9100/ISO-certified shop. We offer a flexible schedule, typically 2–3 days per week, with half-day options and hours around 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.

The ideal candidate has extensive CNC experience, can read blueprints, perform offsets, edit G-code, and maintain tight tolerances. You will set up lathes and mills, troubleshoot setups, and support quality documentation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years CNC machining experience.
• Strong lathe setup and operation experience.
• Strong mill setup and operation experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and hold tight tolerances.
• Understanding of tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining fundamentals.
• G-code editing experience.
• GD&T knowledge.
• Experience making offsets and minor program edits.
• Troubleshoot setups, tooling, and machining problems.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes to produce close-tolerance precision components.
• Set up and operate CNC mills as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
• Make offsets and minor program edits.
• Select appropriate tooling and optimize setups.
• Develop and troubleshoot fixturing and workholding solutions.
• Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and find practical solutions.
• Help maintain quality documentation and follow AS9100 quality standards.
• Share your machining knowledge and experience with other members of the team.
