Job summary

Sacred Heart seeks a Head Coach for club lacrosse to recruit, train, and manage players and staff. This part-time role runs Sept 1 through May 15, with responsibilities spanning scheduling, game-day operations, and season planning.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years coaching at a high school to college level, demonstrates leadership, and maintains coaching certification. Nights and weekends are required to support a robust schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years coaching experience at the high school, prep, junior, or collegiate level.
• Must be willing to work nights and weekends as the vast majority of games are Friday-Sunday.
• Must maintain coaching certification or be willing to acquire certification.

Responsibilities

• Recruit prospective students who will meet University admission standards.
• Handle league-required paperwork and understand related rules.
• Foster relationships with other coaches.
• Retain all team members, especially first-year students, ensuring smooth transition into college.
• Collaborate with Club Sports staff to develop a cohesive program and promote via social media and the Club Sports website.
• Develop a recruitment plan beyond the upcoming season.
• Create and implement a weekly practice plan to prepare players for competition.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Coordinate practice schedules weekly and provide high-quality instruction to student-athletes.
• Work with Athletic Training and Strength & Conditioning staff on player safety and development.
• Oversee all game day responsibilities including planning, transport, and roster.
• Collaborate with Director of Club Sports and Intramurals on season prep, schedule, and recruitment.
• Recruit and retain lacrosse student-athletes.
• Manage coaching staff and student staff as assigned.
• Maintain close relations with the league.
• Other duties as assigned.
