Job Description

Chamberlain College of Nursing seeks Part-Time Clinical Nursing Faculty to teach in our BSN program in Arlington, Virginia.

You will mentor students in person at an inpatient clinical setting in the Fredericksburg, VA area, connecting classroom and simulation learning with real-world patient care. This helps ensure students are well-prepared and confident in providing high-quality care.

Scheduling:

• Schedule depends on course needs and clinical specialty for each 8-week session.
• Typically, clinical instructors work 3-4 consecutive 12-hour shifts over 1-2 weeks per session.
• Additional dates may not be available; clinical dates are not guaranteed for every session.

No teaching experience is required; nurses with solid clinical experience and a completed MSN are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

• Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
• Manage all aspects of individual teaching loads independently.
• Plan clinical experiences and supervise students providing nursing care.
• Be available to agency staff.
• Evaluate and provide feedback on student performance.
• Provide remediation as needed.
• Orient to agency/clinical policies and procedures.
• Develop and assign clinical tasks based on student knowledge and skills.
• Grade assignments promptly.
• Contribute to program development and evaluation.
• May teach didactic content under supervision.
• Report issues to the course coordinator.
• Collaborate with staff and faculty to improve operations and satisfaction.
• Participate in assessment, retention, and policy efforts.
• Model professionalism and excellent customer service.
• Use relationship skills for problem solving and negotiation.
• Comply with regulations and standards.
• Report to the dean or assistant dean; course coordinator provides oversight.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Unencumbered RN license in Virginia.
• Illinois RN license required to teach all courses (priority given to Illinois-licensed faculty).
• Active BLS certification.
• At least two years of recent clinical nursing experience.

Additional Information

The expected pay range is between $1,120 and $7,245 per assignment.
