Job summary

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks a part-time Clinical Instructor to supervise teacher candidates during field experiences in the College of Education. The role involves direct supervision, observation, goal-setting, and regular communication with SCE staff and instructors.

Requirements include a Master’s degree or higher in education, teacher licensure, and at least three years of classroom teaching.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of classroom teaching; extensive supervision experience or specialized training in high-needs content areas may be considered but is not required.

Responsibilities

• Serving as liaison among student teachers, cooperating teachers, course instructors, and SCE staff.
• Observing student teachers during the field experience; conducting goal-setting, pre-observation, and reflective post-observation conferences; minimum formal observations per placement.
• Providing oral and written feedback to teacher candidates after each formal observation.
• Stimulating reflective thinking about teacher candidates' objectives, goals, strategies, and progress.
• Working collaboratively with cooperating teachers and SCE staff to enact remediation processes for candidates needing assistance.
• Coordinating evaluation of teacher candidates with cooperating teachers and the candidate themselves.
• Facilitating seminars for teacher candidates in select geographic areas, as requested.
