Job summary

Anne Arundel Community College is seeking a Part-Time Clinical Dental Hygienist Instructor to support the clinical education of dental hygiene students at the Arnold/Main Campus. The role involves supervising students during patient treatment, reinforcing instrumentation techniques, and ensuring infection control and safety protocols are followed.

The ideal candidate has a Maryland dental hygiene license, anesthesia and nitrous oxide certification, CPR/BLS, and at least 2 years of clinical

Qualifications

• Current Maryland Dental Hygiene license.
• Certified to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a practicing dental hygienist.
• Teaching or mentoring experience in a clinical or educational setting is preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of dental software (Dentrix, TalEval) and electronic health records preferred.
• Professional Liability Insurance recommended.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor dental hygiene students in a clinical setting to develop essential patient-care skills.
• Provide hands-on training in prophylaxis, periodontal therapy, sealants, fluoride and patient education.
• Ensure adherence to infection control OSHA/HIPAA standards and ethical/law requirements.
• Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to support learning and competency.
• Collaborate with faculty to coordinate clinical scheduling, patient management, and curriculum development.
