Job summary

The City of La Habra is seeking part-time or substitute Teachers for the Child Development Division, School-Age, and Pre-School Programs. Positions involve working with school-age or preschool-age children up to 28.5 hours weekly, with grant-funded and potentially limited-term status.

Applicants must hold a California Child Development Teacher Permit or higher, or be eligible with permit options and coursework.

Qualifications

• Applicant must hold a Child Development Teacher Permit or higher.
• Option 2-4 permits require specific units and timelines.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish highly desirable.
• CPR/First Aid certification is required within 30 days of employment.
• Fingerprint clearance and valid CA driver’s license with proof of insurance required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for Child Development program.
• Provide a safe, nurturing environment and promote social/emotional, physical, health, and cognitive growth.
• Prepare lesson plans and assessments for school-age or preschool-age children; oversee assistants and volunteers.
• Maintain classrooms and participate in parent involvement activities and community events.
• Communicate regularly with parents via notes, HUBBE, Class Dojo, and conferences.
• Supervise students, volunteers, and staff; ensure safety and order in the classroom and playground.
