Job summary

YMCA of Middle Tennessee is hiring a Part-time Before and After School Childcare Assistant to support School Age Programs across Davidson County's North Nashville community. Location includes Cumberland Elementary, Eakin Elementary, Head Magnet Elementary, Hull Jackson Montessori Elementary, Park Avenue Elementary and Waverly-Belmont Elementary.

Shifts run Monday through Friday, 6:30am–8:30am and 2:00pm–6:00pm. Starts at $15 per hour, with pay depending on childcare experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enthusiastic, organized, and team-oriented individuals with a passion for youth development.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to multitask.
• Essential functions include safety awareness, lifting up to 40 lbs, and outdoor activity in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Actively lead and engage a group of 15–20 children in activities, inside and outside.
• Set up and transform program spaces into child-friendly environments and ensure cleanliness.
• Help implement a quality curriculum aligned with YMCA guidelines.
• Build positive relationships with YMCA staff, school personnel, and families.
• Ensure site licensing and quality standards are maintained.

Position Type: Part-time This is NOT a temporary or summer-only position.

Pay Range starts at $15 per hour (or more depending on the childcare experience listed in the application or resume)

Shifts: Must be available Monday through Friday,Before & After School Care (6:30am to 8:30am & 2pm to 6pm)

Availability Requirements:

• Must be available Monday through Friday
• Must be able to commit to ongoing employment during the 2026–2027 school year
• This position is not suitable for individuals seeking summer‑only employment

Certifications Required:

• Before your first shift: Orientation, DHS Background Check, Fingerprinting, Abuse Registry Check, health forms, training sessions, and references.
• Within 30 days of hire: CPR/First Aid/AED (Infant/Pediatric).
