Job summary

Kalamazoo Valley Community College is seeking a part-time Lab Assistant to support Chemistry labs at the Texas Township Campus. You will help prepare labs, set up equipment, maintain inventory, and ensure a clean, organized workspace in line with SOPs.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and be reliable, with preferred coursework in Chemistry (CHM 120/130). Flexible 5-20 hours per week with duties assigned by the Lab Manager.

Job Summary:

Specific duties include setting up equipment and supplies per laboratory class standard operating procedures; maintaining the lab supply inventory; preparing chemicals and mixing solutions; cleaning of equipment, instruments and work surfaces; and other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required, must be 18 or older. Candidates must be motivated and reliable.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Post-secondary coursework in Chemistry including CHM 120 &130 strongly desired.

Physical Demands:

Lifting, bending, stooping and standing required. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.

Work Hours:

5 - 20 hours per week; flexible schedule with work hours to be determined by the Lab Manager.
