Job Title: Part Time Assistant II, Chemistry Lab

Location: LSC-Montgomery, 3200 College Park Drive, Conroe, TX 77384

Under direct supervision, this position supports the lab manager and faculty in the preparation and delivery of chemistry labs, ensuring a safe and well-equipped learning environment for students.

Purpose and Scope

The assistant is responsible for routine lab preparation duties, tracking laboratory equipment and supplies, identifying problems and consulting with experts, and performing both routine and non‑routine tasks that require independent judgment.

Essential Job Functions

1. Supports lab manager and faculty in preparation and delivery of labs.
2. Prepares some lab solutions.
3. Properly handles and disposes of laboratory wastes.
4. Provides routine lab support including safety, cleaning, dishwashing, and inspection and maintenance of lab classrooms and equipment.
5. Performs record‑keeping requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
6. Works with faculty and students for special projects, ensuring proper supplies and safety procedures.
7. Performs other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

• Computer literate.
• Strong safety record and safety consciousness.
• Flexible and creative; capable of performing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of faculty and staff.

Physical Abilities

The work requires significant standing, walking, and pushing carts; lifting up to 30 pounds; repetitive bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, and reaching. Above‑average agility and dexterity are required.

Work Schedule and Conditions

• Work performed in a climate‑controlled office and/or laboratory environment with typical safety hazards.
• Safety protocol must be strictly followed at all times.
• Work schedule is flexible around student class schedules; priority to staffing during peak demand times for chemistry labs.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus at least one year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Completion of appropriate college‑level science coursework.

Hourly Pay Rate: $15.60.
