The officer is responsible for protecting life and propertyutilizing effective crime prevention techniques, and apprehendingcriminals. The officer will enforce university, state, andapplicable federal laws, regulations, and policies. The officer maybe assigned to traffic and crowd control as well as securingbuildings after business operations have ceased. The officer mustbe able to act soundly without direct supervision and to exerciseindependent judgment in dealing with emergency situations.
Must be physically fit and be able to walk, run, climb, and crawlto the extent prescribed by the Board on Law Enforcement Standardsand Training. Candidate must have good verbal communication as wellas written communication skills. Must be able to operate a motorvehicle including a car, truck, golf cart, ATV, bicycle, or otherall-terrain vehicles. The candidate must be a board-certifiedpolice officer.High School Diploma or GED. Applicants must be certified as a Law Enforcement Officer throughP.O.S.T. (Peace Officers Standard and Training) or currently in theAcademy. Must have a valid Mississippi Drivers License.Prior Campus LawEnforcement Experience
