Job summary

The Salvation Army Alton IL Corps seeks a part-time Custodian to maintain the 360 Life Center building and grounds. Under supervision, you will handle cleaning, repairs, yard work and program setup to support daily activities.

Responsibilities include housekeeping, minor repairs, equipment upkeep, safety and confidentiality compliance, and assisting with events. The role requires a HS Diploma or GED, basic communication skills, and a valid IL driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with one year related work experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend a job description, cleaning instructions and MSDS.
• Basic communication skills for interaction with visitors and staff.
• Requires valid driver’s license and must pass MVR check.

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping duties including dusting, window washing, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, vacuuming, and other cleaning tasks.
• Make small repairs and report major repairs to the Site Administrator.
• Maintain Corps grounds including yard work, snow removal, lawn mowing and outside repairs as needed.
• Maintain overall appearance and functionality of all properties.
• Operate and maintain equipment and ensure vehicles receive proper maintenance.
• Keep maintenance rooms clean and organized.
• Prepare rooms for corps programs, luncheons and meetings.
• Participate in team training and adhere to Safe From Harm guidelines.
• Foster a positive work atmosphere and professional interactions with staff, clients and visitors.
