Job summary

First Student is hiring part-time School Bus Drivers in East Orange, NJ. You will transport students safely to and from school, with field trips and special events possible. No experience needed; we provide training to help you become a safe, professional driver.

Earn $31.00 per hour with additional training pay. Part-time, flexible schedules, and opportunities for advancement across 540 locations nationwide. DOT safety rules apply; English proficiency required.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license for at least 3 years.
• Part-time schedule with summers off.
• Experience with students or customer service is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school and activities.
• Supervise boarding and unloading at stops; assist students with seatbelts and mobility aids.
• Maintain order on the bus to prevent distractions.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections (brakes, lights, tires, emergency exits).
• Report mechanical issues promptly and keep the bus clean and sanitary.
• Obey all traffic laws and company safety standards.
• Communicate with parents, school staff, and dispatch about delays.
• Demonstrate leadership and customer service skills.
