Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing seeks motivated applicants for the part-time Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver) role in Manhattan, NY. This position delivers Penske vehicles to locations and customers, including box trucks up to 26' and tractors/trailers for CDL Class A. CDL Class B is required, with Class A preferred, and the work is casual/on-call 0–25 hours weekly.

Location is Penske facility at 427 W. 126th Street, Manhattan.

Qualifications

• 2 years of driving experience
• 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record
• Valid Class B CDL required. Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
• CDL Class A license preferred
• Ability to read and follow written instructions is required
• Ability to work independently, customer service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude are required
• English language proficiency is required by federal regulation
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential
• DOT requirements include MVR check, DOT Physical, Safety History records, and DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start

Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures while driving to Penske locations or customer locations
• Check vehicles for mechanical and safety issues and report findings
• Obtain receipts or signatures for deliveries and collect payment when required
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages
• Support service department with delivery of parts and equipment
• Travel within nearby area for training as required
