Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a part-time truck driver training instructor to teach students to become a licensed CDL Class A driver, including classroom and over-the-road instruction. Must meet with students weekly, or on weekends as needed, to explain CDL career and program requirements before classes begin.

Qualifications

• Must have 3+ years of related work experience in truck driving.
• Must maintain a CDL Class A license with Instruction Permit.
• Background check and periodic drug screenings are required.
• Defensive Driver certification must be completed within 6 months of hire.
• Current DOT physical card is required.
• Teaching/training experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach classroom and over-the-road driving to CDL students.
• Schedule student testing with local DMV offices and inform of CDL career requirements.
• Maintain accurate student records and log books.
• Assist with student job placement and career readiness.
• Adhere to local, state, and federal training regulations.
