Job summary

Diocese of Joliet Catholic Schools seeks a part-time substitute teacher for St. Michael Parish School. The role supports Catholic education, follows the absent teacher's plans, and fosters a faith-based classroom environment.

The ideal candidate holds an Illinois PEL or Substitute License and a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Catholic practice is preferred to teach religion. Schedule is on an as-needed basis, with no benefits.

Qualifications

• Educator licensure as required by Illinois law (PEL or Substitute License).
• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related discipline.
• Practicing Catholic preferred but not required to teach religion/theology.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a positive role model and support Catholic teachings.
• Create a faith-focused learning environment aligned with school values.
• Deliver instruction following the absent teacher's plans with fidelity.
• Provide notes on student progress and outcomes for the absent teacher.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
• Maintain classroom behavior standards per Diocesan policies.
• Utilize available technology to enhance lessons.
