Job summary

Diocese of Joliet Catholic Schools in Wheaton is seeking a 2026-2027 part-time substitute teacher for all grade levels at St. Michael Parish School. This position is instructional and ministerial, with duties to support Catholic teachings and classroom coverage.

The substitute will follow plans, maintain a faith-centered learning environment, differentiate instruction, and document student progress. Requires Illinois PEL or Substitute License and a bachelor's in Elementary Education; practicing

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Illinois PEL or Substitute License or valid out-of-state reciprocal license.
• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related discipline.
• Catholic religious instruction preferred but required to teach religion.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a positive role model and support Catholic teachings.
• Create a faith-focused learning environment in the classroom.
• Facilitate student success in academic and interpersonal skills.
• Implement the absent teacher's plans with fidelity and document progress.
• Leave detailed notes for the absent teacher.
• Differentiate instruction based on student needs.
• Maintain classroom standards and supervises activities outside class.
• Utilize technology and office equipment to enhance lessons.
