Cluster Parishes of Portsmouth and Chesapeake is seeking a part-time Children's Faith Formation Coordinator in Portsmouth, VA. The role is 25 hours per week with duties including catechesis, event coordination, and Sacramental recording.

The ideal candidate has a 4-year degree in religious studies or related field, strong organizational and leadership skills, and proficient computer skills. Salary starts at $17.21/hour with employer-paid benefits and various perks.

Qualifications

• Must be Catholic in good standing.
• Bachelor's Degree in religious studies or related field and ongoing education.
• Must be able to drive for travel between churches.

Responsibilities

• Admin duties include correspondence.
• Resource management and ordering supplies.
• Track attendance and help with schedules.
• Assist Adult Formation Coordinator with Safe Environment and VIRTUS.
• Instruct catechists, parents and children.
• Communicate with Pastor, formation team, parents and catechists.
• Coordinate formation for K-8 and OCIA; plan retreats for First Communion/Reconciliation.
• Organize events for children, parents and catechists.
• Assist with Stations of the Cross, Advent/Lent reconciliation services.
• Lead catechists/parents in catechizing; record sacraments and notify parishes.
• Assist with Holy Week preparations.

Responsibilities:

• Administrative Duties will include correspondence
• resource management
• ordering supplies
• tracking attendance
• mapping schedules, and assisting the Adult Formation Coordinatorwith managing Safe Environment, including VIRTUS.
• Instructing catechists, parents, and children.
• Communicate with the Pastor, theformation team,parents,andcatechists.
• CoordinateFormationforK-SandOCIAchildren,7-15,retreatsfor FirstCommunion, First Reconciliation,and OCIA.
• Organize partiesfor children, parents, and catechists.
• Assist in coordinating Stations of the Cross during Lent; organize reconciliationservices during Advent and Lent.
• Lead catechists and parents in their requirements for catechizing children.Ensure all sacraments received by children are correctly recorded in thesacramentallogbooks, send notification of sacraments toBaptism parishes, and record notifications from other parishes.
• Assist with preparations for Holy Week Masses and services.
