Position Summary

Customer acknowledgment is the top responsibility of the Cashier. As a key member of the Great Lakes Ace (GLA) team, you will have frequent customer contact and are responsible for maintaining a positive company image and promoting GLA's goodwill through your attitude, appearance, and concern for the store's profitability. Uphold GLA's Mission, Vision, and Core Values daily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Register Operations (70% or more of role)

• Operate cash register, scan merchandise, engage customers, process transactions, and thank them for shopping.
• Handle refunds and merchandise credits.
• Use loss prevention techniques to reduce shortages and shoplifting.
• Follow policies for all transactions and promote Ace Rewards membership benefits.
• Stay informed about ads, rebates, and special pricing; report errors.
• Answer phones and direct calls appropriately.

Sales Floor (30% or less of role)

• Greet customers, assist with questions, and help find merchandise.
• Help with special orders and display stock merchandise attractively.
• Assist with paint matching and other customer services.
• Help with cart collection and carry merchandise to customer vehicles.

Additional Duties

• Assist customers with services like key cutting, screen repair, and knife sharpening.
• Follow nightly cleaning and maintenance routines.
• Address customer complaints by referring to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance, with flexibility for weekends.

Relationships

Communicate professionally with customers, management, staff, and support center associates.

Technology

Use of computer systems including keyboard, mouse, and Epicor.

Physical Demands

Must regularly walk, use hands, talk, and hear; occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds with assistance. Visual acuity required includes close, color, peripheral, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment

Compensation

$12.48 per hour
