Job Overview:
Provides prompt and friendly service to customers and assists them when necessary. Operates a cash register and performs all related duties.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions.
- Greets customers in a friendly manner, whether in their designated department or elsewhere in the store.
- Operates the cash register accurately, scans all products, redeems coupons, and handles transactions including cash, checks, EFT, and in-store charges.
- Assists with merchandise placement, answers customer questions, and follows up with appropriate personnel.
- Follows policies regarding the sale of tobacco and liquor, and complies with local, state, and federal guidelines on WIC and food stamps.
- Maintains knowledge of product values, department numbers, and shelf locations.
- Stocks, faces, and rotates merchandise, cleans shelves, and maintains the store appearance according to standards.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and deal with a few concrete variables.
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions, and request supplies as needed.
- Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, with depth perception and a field of vision.
- Ability to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Good judgment, especially when supervision is not immediately available.
