Job summary

Hawthorne Health is seeking an experienced Cardiology Principal Investigator (MD/DO) for a part-time, 1099 role. The PI will lead Cardiology/Metabolic trials within a community-based site network, ensuring protocol adherence, GCP/ICH compliance, and high-quality data capture.

Candidates should have prior PI or Sub-I experience on sponsor-initiated trials, with strong leadership and communication skills. On-site visits are approximately 1–4 times per month, with remote oversight of ~3–5 hours

Qualifications

• MD/DO licensed physician with cardiology focus.
• Experience leading sponsor-initiated trials as PI or Sub-I.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all aspects of clinical trials at the site, ensuring adherence to protocol, GCP, ICH guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and supervise the clinical research team, including sub-investigators, study coordinators, and other site staff.
• Delegate study-related duties to qualified personnel and ensure training and oversight.
• Conduct remote review of patient assessments, including physical exams, histories, and eligibility screenings.
• Review and interpret laboratory results, ECGs, and other diagnostic tests.
• Make medical decisions regarding participant care, adverse events, and protocol deviations.
• Ensure accurate, complete, and timely collection and documentation of all study data.
• Communicate effectively with sponsors, CROs, IRBs, and regulatory authorities.
• Manage investigational product accountability, storage, and administration with IP team.
• Participate in site initiation visits, monitoring visits, audits, and inspections.
• Maintain ongoing medical education and stay current with clinical research advancements.
