Job summary

Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT, seeks two University Driver positions to transport passengers on campus and on local trips. Roles are part-time and temporary during academic semesters, with both first and second shifts; a CDL with passenger endorsement is required.

You will follow schedules, inspect vehicles, maintain records, and ensure safe operation on campus routes; preference may be given to current CT state employees.

Qualifications

• One year of experience driving public service vehicles, transit buses or over-the-road coaches.
• Valid Connecticut Class D driver license with F (Public Passenger) endorsement.
• Incumbents may be required to possess appropriate current licenses, permits and/or certifications.
• Adequate physical strength, stamina and visual/auditory acuity; a physical may be required.

Responsibilities

• Drives university vehicles including transit buses and vans to transport passengers on time schedules.
• Makes daily trips and picks up passengers at designated areas.
• Inspects vehicle before departure and keeps basic records.
• Assists with baggage and ensures passenger safety and comfort.
• Performs routine maintenance tasks and may perform minor repairs as needed.
