Job summary

Whatcom Community College invites applications for a Part-Time Hourly Grounds Helper in the College's Facilities department in Bellingham, Washington. This in-person role supports the Grounds Supervisor with mowing, edging, irrigation, and landscaping tasks.

The position requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds, operate seasonal equipment, and work outdoors in various weather. Compensation is $20.00 per hour, up to 1,050 hours, not to exceed 12 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Insurable driver’s license valid in Washington state required.
• Entry-level grounds maintenance experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of mowing, edging and operation/maintenance of equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in various weather.

Responsibilities

• Perform general grounds maintenance: mowing, edging, planting bed care.
• Install, maintain and repair irrigation systems.
• Perform snow and ice removal operations.
• Park lot maintenance, striping, curb and crosswalk painting, and storm water system cleaning.
• Operate landscaping equipment and assist Grounds Supervisor.
