Job summary

Southwest Virginia Community College is hiring a part-time General Facilities Worker to perform general campus maintenance and trades-related tasks at the Tazewell location. Responsibilities include painting, repairs, setup for events, and assisting with campus operations.

The role requires knowledge of trades and the ability to operate various power tools, with duties that may include snow removal and adherence to safety protocols. Some evenings or weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of general maintenance and trades.
• Experience in various skilled trades, grounds keeping, and cleaning.
• Ability to operate a wide variety of power equipment and grounds equipment.
• Ability to lift and move furniture, supplies and equipment (50 lbs minimum).
• Ability to climb extension ladders for maintenance and trades.
• Ability to operate snow removal equipment as assigned.
• Ability to work without close supervision.
• Ability to follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• General duties to maintain campus.
• Painting, drywall repairs, masonry, plumbing repairs; assist Facilities Manager.
• General maintenance duties as assigned by Facilities Manager or VP of Finance and Administration.
• Assist with event setup including athletics.
• Assist faculty, staff, and the public as needed.
• Assist with snow removal as assigned.
• Complete job assignments without close supervision.
• Work on limited holidays, nights, or weekends as assigned.
• Complete OSHA 10-hour and Bloodborne Pathogen training.
