Job summary

The University of Alaska Anchorage's University Police Department is seeking applicants for its Event Security Team. This is a part-time, student worker position located on the Anchorage campus, offering up to 20 hours per week while school is in session.

Starting hourly rate is $20.47. The role is non-sworn, non-armed and focuses on identifying risks, providing customer service, and supporting campus safety under supervision. This recruitment is open to undergraduate students only.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester.
• Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA or approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer or designee.
• Must possess a valid ID.
• Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation directed by University of Alaska Board of Regents Policy.
• Must be able to provide credible testimony in a court of law.

Responsibilities

• Work is performed under direct supervision and participate in training programs.
• Apply basic security officer practices and procedures under the guidance of Event Supervisor.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
• Maintain recordkeeping and organize tasks effectively.
• Operate computers and specialized equipment and exercise judgment in difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
