Job summary

University of Utah's Campus Bike Shop is seeking a bicycle mechanic to serve staff, students, and departments. Responsibilities include maintaining schedules, repairing bicycles, and coordinating parts and materials as needed.

The role requires strong customer service, ability to handle a busy workshop, and willingness to work overtime for events or peak periods. A valid Utah driver’s license may be required and safety/background checks may be conducted.

Qualifications

• Four years relevant work experience in the applicable trades areas or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
• Demonstrated knowledge of national, state and local building codes and standards; read wiring diagrams and blueprints; ability to make mechanical sketches and drawings.
• Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high level of customer service and professional attitude.
• Repair, examine, and service bicycle components (assembly/disassembly; derailleurs; brakes; cables; wheel truing; chains; hydraulic maintenance).
• Refurbish bicycles for sale.
• Maintain inventory of workshop and organize space.
• Coordinate schedule and changes through the calendar; assist with special events.
