Cake Decorator

Job Overview:

Provides direct, prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Decorates bakery products for sale according to company policy and customer preferences. Interacts with customers for their immediate selection of various fresh meats, cheeses, salads, and hot foods from the deli department. Handles food in a safe manner and ensures the work area is always clean and neat.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1. Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions, treating customers as the most important people in the store.
2. Greets customers with a smile in a friendly manner, whether in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store.
3. Ices, decorates, packages, labels, and prices products for island refrigerated cases.
4. Ices, decorates, trays, and maintains freezer and refrigerated showcase.
5. Takes customer orders at the deli counter, slices product for customer service, weighs, dates, prices, labels, and wraps all products.
6. Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures, ensuring the work area is always clean and neat.
7. Reviews the status and appearance of the food for freshness.
8. Monitors temperatures of all hot and cold units for proper holding procedures.
9. Cleans all equipment in the Deli/Bakery department daily.
10. Ensures all food handling complies with local health department regulations.
11. Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; requests supplies orally or in writing.
• Knowledge of decorating, specifically cake decorating.
• Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distances over 20 inches and less than 20 feet, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision.
• Ability to handle refrigerated and frozen temperatures when retrieving products from freezers.
• Ability to participate in the preparation of salads, sandwiches, fried chicken, fish, etc.
• Ability to safely operate a slicer and fryer to produce sliced meats, cheeses, and fried foods.
• Willingness to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
